Tip # 1 How to Pose

1. Posing
Posing is something that every couple struggles with. You want to look natural. You want to look comfortable. Yet, every time a camera is pointed at you - you freeze. So, here are some things to consider when you and your fiance are in front of the camera.
If you feel uncomfortable, then you probably look uncomfortable.
Just be natural with another. Make each other laugh.
You are in love. Connection is a huge part of that. Make sure you hold hands. Have him pick you up or a piggy back ride. Whisper what you are going to do on the honeymoon into each others ears. It always makes the other person have a natural smile.
If you are not connecting then it will show in your pictures.
When posing make sure you go through a variety of stances. We will walk you through how to stand. Looking at the camera, looking at each other, and kissing one another. The more comfortable you are in front of the camera the better your photos are look for the engagement session and on your wedding day.
- Turn your body 45 degrees so you have your shoulder slightly forward.
- Put your weight on the back leg away from the camera and you will look like you lost 5 pounds.
- Push your chin away from your body toward the camera.
- Women don't put your arms flat to your body, put your hand on your hip to create separation.
Tip # 2
Location
Where do you go for your pictures? Do you want to make your friends jealous? Of course you do! Pick a location that has meaning to you.
We like to work with our clients to understand what they are looking for when it comes to their photography. Do you like a park setting or more downtown Columbus? Location can have a great impact on your final images.
• Pick a place that has a variety of backdrops and not a lot of people with some shade.
• You can also pick something that is more meaningful to the two of you as a couple. We love photographing our couples at Creekside in Gahanna and on Nationwide Blvd. downtown Columbus.
• Email us if you would like to see what a full session looks like.
Tip # 3
What to wear
You don't want to show up with cargo shorts and flip-flops like you are at an amusement park.
• We recommend wearing something new you got from the store a few months ago or less.
• Solid colors work best such as a polo khaki or dark jeans.
• Women could wear a nice sun dress or blouse with capris and cute shoes.
• If you want to have a sunset engagement session then dress up like you are going to a fancy restaurant.
